In today’s world, our phones allow us to be informed on any story in a matter of seconds. For sports fan, we expect the same results for our sports news. The days of long, formatted press stories just don’t draw in the eyes like they once did before social media. We will be looking at how social media has forced writers to change their approach to content creating and how this shift will be long lasting.

Adrian Wojnarowski, popular columnist for ESPN and the NBA, writing updates on a breaking story on Warriors rookie James Wiseman.
As mentioned in my opening paragraph, journalist have had to make a shift to linking stories on social media, versus just posting on the blog site, in this case ESPN.com.
Kellan Olson, reporter for the Phoenix Suns, tweets comments from Suns head Coach Monte Williams following a Suns win. Another example of how journalist are using social media to release new content.
This is an example of how media outlets use social media to share breaking stories, which would previously be placed in a short article, can now be released quickly with the information being taken in by the audience much easier. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNi8S0Ipdlz/
This is an example of video media content being used by HouseofHighlights to show how Karl-Anthony-Towns mother was honored at tonight's game. Before social media, this post would have not been as sentimental in writing form. The video aspect allows for a personal connection between the fans and the team. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNjKcQ1FhyB/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Video highlights is a great example of how social media has changed not only how fans receive their news, but also has forced media outlets to change their platforms all together. In the past, game summaries would be typed, with a lot of words and numbers. Today, fans can rewatch the game just moments after it has finished.

This article does an excellent job of discussing some of the topics I have covered today. One part they is emphasized in this writing is how social media has changed the viewing experience for fans, which has forced journalist to become much more creative to draw in viewership and build a reliable audience.

Today, we have seen the change in how media outlets portray themselves on social media. More then ever, the competition for viewership on sports news is solely based on ease of access, the content inside, and how it is presented . Those who incorporate all three should be on the right side of history as far as sports media journalism is concerned.
